Next Match v Stirling Albion
We travel to the Forthbank Performance Sport Centre to play Stirling Albion in the latest William Hill League 2 fixture.
Both sides will be looking to improve on their recent form that has seen both sides slip down the League table.
Stirling Albion currently sit in 5th place with “The Rose” in 8th after the meeting with The Spartans on Tuesday night under the lights at NDP.
The Rose drew 2-2 under the lights at NDP on a cold Tuesday night.
The game started strongly for Rose, with both sides creating clear-cut chances.
It was Rose who struck first on the night, as Neil Martyniuk gave his side the lead in the 4th minute after they were awarded a penalty.
Martyniuk coolly converted, sending Carswell the wrong way.
Rose controlled much of the possession in the first half, but Spartans brought the game level in the 39th minute, leaving the teams square at the break.
The second half continued with a similar tempo.
Henderson came extremely close to scoring as his shot rattled the crossbar in the 52nd minute.
Rose regained their lead early in the half with a brilliant team goal, featuring lovely skill from Arnott to bypass the Spartans’ midfield. Arnott set up Barrett, who applied the finishing touch to make it 2-1.
However, Spartans were awarded a penalty in the 71st minute, which Henderson converted to secure his brace and level the game once again.
Last time out Stirling Albion went down 3-2 at Peterhead.
After going down to a goal after 10 minutes Stirling equalised midway through the first but would lose a goal 3 minutes later to go in at 2-1 down at half time.
Stirling would then equalise again at the start of the second half but went down to a further Peterhead goal 15 minutes from time.
In the last meeting between the sides “The Rose” ran out 2-1 winners in a dominant display at NDP.
Rose started the game with strong spells of possession, working through phases to maintain control of the ball for extended periods.
Both sides created few clear-cut goalscoring opportunities in what proved to be a tightly contested match.
Bonnyrigg Rose’s best chance of the first half came in the 5th minute when Sean Murphy played Cammy Ross through on goal, but Ross was unable to apply the finishing touch.
Stirling’s most notable opportunities came from a powerful Dale Carrick volley from outside the box in the 22nd minute and a Josh Kerr header in the 35th minute.
Just before halftime, Angus Mailer came to Rose’s rescue with a crucial block, denying Adam Brown a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Rose took control of the game and dominated possession early in the second half.
They created chances quickly, with Keiran McGachie testing Derek Gaston just five minutes into the half.
Bonnyrigg broke the deadlock shortly afterward, as Lewis Lorimer scored following a nutmeg ball played from Cammy Ross.
Rose doubled their lead in quick succession, with Ross once again playing a key role this time finding the net off a rebound after Kerr Young’s shot hit the crossbar.
From there, Rose kept control of the game, comfortably keeping possession, and keeping a high defensive line.
Despite their dominance, Adam Brown scored a late goal for Stirling in stoppage time, denying Rose a clean sheet. However, Bonnyrigg secured all three points at NDP.
