This weekend we are back at New Dundas Park as we welcome Forfar Athletic.
The Rose have been on an excellent run of form with 3 wins in the last 4 matches and having won on the road at Stirling Albion last time out.
Bonnyrigg completely dominated the match at Forthbank and went ahead with an early goal when a Lee Currie free kick was diverted into the net. The Rose continued to create chances but had to wait until 10 minutes from time to add a second when Bradley Barrett ran through and coolly netted from close range.
This was an excellent performance from The Rose also considering that we had a makeshift defence due to injuries and that Goalkeeper Tom Ritchie was barely tested.
Forfar came out 2-1 winners against Stranraer in what was a battle of 9th versus 10th in the League at this early stage of the season.
The Loons under Manager Ray McKinnon went behind halfway through the first half but equalised just before half time and were able to find a winner mid-way through the second half to record their first League win of the season.
As in most of this very competitive League matches between these sides have generally been very close over the past two seasons but The Rose will be looking to maintain the form they showed against Forfar last season where we took 10 points out of 12.
In the last meeting between these sides at NDP which was the final game of last season The Rose after a goalless first half scored four goals without reply in the second half with goals from Dean Watson, Calum Connolly, Owen Wardell who scored after being on the pitch for less than a minute and a late Neil Martyniuk penalty.
Notes from Calum Elliot – Forfar Athletic 28/09/24
Forfar will be coming to NDP full of confidence after their win against Stranraer and their League position is certainly not a true reflection of the performances they have put in.
However, we are looking to build on last Saturday’s win and hopefully we may have ½ players back from injury which will help.
This is a relentless league where every single game you need to be on it and Saturday will be no different.
