This weekend we have a break from League duty as we travel to New Central Park to face League 1 Kelty Hearts in the semi final of the East of Scotland Cup.
Kelty who have been under the Captain Tam O’Ware for the past two games are currently 3rd in League 1 will provide a tough test for “The Rose”.
The winner of this match will face The Spartans in the final (Date tbc).
The Spartans earned their place in the final with a 4-0 win over their near neighbours Edinburgh City at Meadowbank.
Both sides named much changed teams for the match, but it was The Spartans who came out on top with a Mark Stowe hat- trick and a Whyte opener for the away side.
In the previous round “The Rose” came out 3-2 winners at New Countess Park against EoS Premier side Dunbar United.
Rose started strong, taking an early lead in the 2nd minute as Keiran McGachie flicked on Kerr Young’s header from a Lewis Lorimer corner.
Cammy Ross scored his first goal for Rose in spectacular fashion. After a brilliant solo run, he curled a shot into the top right corner, leaving the Dunbar goalkeeper with no chance.
Despite tough conditions in the first half, Bradley Barrett extended Rose’s lead in the 28th minute with a powerful low-driven shot that proved too much for Brennan.
Rose dominated the first half, creating several goal-scoring opportunities.
However, the Seasiders fought back, with Dean Whitson pulling a goal back for Dunbar in the 34th minute with a 30-yard strike.
The second half saw fewer chances for Rose, with Mark Ferrie and Bradley Barrett having the best opportunities.
Dunbar reduced the deficit further in the 75th minute when Liam Gregory chipped in from outside the box.
Bonnyrigg Rose held on to secure the win, advancing to the this Semi Final
