Manager Calum Elliot’s thoughts on this match

Today we welcome Stranraer who are a dangerous team that’s obviously now above us in the league after the points deduction.

They are well set up and are a match for any team in the league as there results this season show.

Big game for us on Tuesday, one which I’m looking forward to.

One which as a group our preparation will be good and although Stranraer’s line up will change with new additions, the players will be ready.

Stephen Reid

Next up we meet Stranraer at NDP to play the match that was postponed from 11th January due to a frozen pitch.

Both sides will be looking to pick up the 3 points as they battle at the wrong end of the League table.

Last Saturday we travelled to Forthbank to play Stirling Albion

James Graham gave the home side an early lead in the 2nd minute.

Paddy Martin denied a penalty from Josh Kerr in the 24th minute, but McNabb extended the lead in the 39th minute.

To close out a disappointing half, Brown fired a free kick beyond Martin in the 45th minute, giving the home side a comfortable lead.

The second half lacked the action of the first, though Stirling had several chances. Carrick and Crane had the best opportunities, but they were either denied by Martin or missed their mark.

Stranraer travelled to Forfar where they came out 1-0 winners with a Gallagher header at the start of the second half.

The victory moved Stranraer into 8th position in League 2 just above “The Rose” in 9th.

In the last meeting between the sides at the Eco Gen Stadium @ Stair Park –

Bonnyrigg took the lead in the 11th minute when a long Kerr Young ball was pounced upon by Cammy Ross who pocked it into the corner of the net.

That would be Captain Kerr Young’s last action of the match as came off injured to be replaced by Aaron Arnott.

The game was played in difficult conditions with driving rain and strong winds making it difficult for the players and Lang brought out another good save from Tom Ritchie before Mark Ferrie had a golden chance to double the lead in the 37th minute when he headed over from close range.

Stranraer got back into the game just before half time when they were awarded a penalty after a foul by Sean Murphy on Ecrepont.

Russell took the penalty for the home side and thew ball came of the post and Robertson converted the rebound as the sides went in level at the break.

At the start of the second half with the game being very even The Rose made a double change bringing on Lee Currie and Ben Scarborough for Callum Connolly and the injured Bradley Barrett.

The home side then saw a Russell free kick that got caught in the wind come off the cross bar.

Midway through the half The Rose made a further two substitutions with Keiran McGachie and Lewis Lorimer replacing Kalum Higginbotham and Mark Ferrie.

On 70 minutes Angus Mailer had a good opportunity in the box but was unable to get any power behind the shot and the home goalkeeper was able to get down and smother the shot.

Bonnyrigg were dominating the play at this stage and the home side went down to 10 men when Edgar was dismissed for an over the ball tackle on Lee Currie.

Just when it looked like both sides would need to settle for a point The Rose won a corner in injury time which Aaron Arnott crossed in and was met by the head of Keiran McGachie to grab all 3 points for The Rose.
