Bonnyrigg Rose were back on the road once again in pre-season as they made the trip to Albyn Park to take on Lowland League side Broxburn Athletic.
Calum Elliot returned to the dugout as well after Kevin Smith had taken his place for the defeat at Civil Service Strollers.
Rose started the game strongly, Owen Wardell going the closest in the early stages as his long-range effort forced Bob Watt into a save down to his left.
Rose's strong start would be rewarded after 24 minutes as Aaron Arnott latched onto the loose ball on the edge of the area and curled it into the far corner to give them the lead.
High in confidence after the opener, Rose went in search for more as Angus Mailer found himself in unfamiliar territory through on goal and his audacious lob attempt was plucked out of the sky by Watt.
Arnott almost grabbed a second mere seconds after Mailer's chance, but he couldn't find the target.
Broxburn were looking for a response, and they almost found it after Greg Page rose highest to meet the corner, but his looping header cracked the top of Mikey Andrews' crossbar.
Rose had a grip of the game heading towards half-time, and they would expand upon their lead as Mailer flicked on a corner that was tucked home by Kallum Higginbotham at the back post.
The two goal lead wasn't enough however, as Bradley Barrett made a good run in behind and slotted it beyond Watt.
Rose carried the first-half momentum into the second as they added an early fourth goal, Higginbotham playing a ball across the face of goal that Wardell tapped into the net.
An early assist of the season contender came courtesy of Ben Scarborough, sending in a brilliant cross to substitute Bradley Rodden who matched the quality of a cross with a great header.
Rose would have been holding out for a clean sheet to cap off a great performance, but a momentary lapse in defensive judgement gifted Broxburn a consolation goal through Darren Downie
Rose would end the game on a high as Wardell's cross was planted into the net by Smart Osadolor to secure a comprehensive 6-1 victory.
Calum Elliot's side will be looking to continue to build momentum heading into the competitive season when they play their final pre-season friendly on Tuesday evening at Foresters Park against a Tranent side containing a few familiar faces.
