We start our Premier Sports campaign against Premier League Dundee FC at NDP.
Dundee are the highest ranked team at this stage of the competition after finishing 6th in the SPFL last season under Manager Tony Docherty in their first season back in the top league.
These sides met in the group stages of this competition last season at NDP where, in a hard-fought tie, a single goal at the start of the 2nd half sealed the victory for the visitors.
Manager Calum Elliot will hope to have all six of our close season signings available after promising performances in the pre-season friendly matches. Over the past 2 weeks The Rose scored nine goals and only conceded two in these 4 friendly matches whilst building up the fitness and the minutes for the players as we go into a busy start to the season.
The Rose follow up the tie with Dundee with trips to Annan and Inverness in the coming week.
Dundee have also made a number of new signings in the close season and come into this match after a successful pre-season trip to Poland and a friendly tie at Dunfermline.
Manager Message, Calum Elliot
“It’s been a short but efficient pre season. The players have worked incredibly hard and we know we have lots to improve upon. We want to be a team which will excite the supporters this season but at the same time when we need to scrap we can.
Today we welcome Dundee, a top team with a top manager. Tony was my tutor on my A license(probably won’t remember me),he’s a brilliant guy and a top coach.
These are the games you want to be involved in. They’ll clearly be huge favourites but we will play to win.
Your loud support not only will be needed today but throughout the season.
Calum”
