Match Preview written by Stephen Reid
The Rose travel to Pittodrie this Saturday with the massive Rosey Posey support behind us to face Aberdeen FC in this Scottish Gas men’s Scottish Cup 5th round tie.
This is the first time in the club’s history that we have reached this stage of the competition. The team will face a stiff test against an Aberdeen team who now have a new Manager, the vastly experienced Neil Warnock, in place for what will be his first home game since being appointed against The Rose.
The Rose are Currently 5th in League 2 after the Tuesday night win against Elgin City whilst Aberdeen are sitting in 9th in the Premier League after their loss at Rangers.
The Rose go to Pittodrie unbeaten in the last 5 games with 2 wins and 3 draws behind us against an Aberdeen side who have drawn 3 and lost 2 of their last 5 matches.
This is the fourth tie in this year’s competition for The Rose having had a tough road to get to this stage starting with the long trip to Fraserburgh, which was played in extremely windy conditions, where The Rose came through with goals from Angus Mailer and an extra time winner from Bradley Barrett.
This was followed by a trip to Coatbridge to face Albion Rovers where, in a tough game played in icy conditions, The Rose came through thanks to a Neil Martyniuk penalty on the stroke of half time after Smart Osadolor had been brought down.
In the unforgettable 4th round tie at NDP The Rose defeated League 1 Falkirk 2-1, again in a game played in tough conditions, with an early goal from Connor Doan and the very late winner from Bradley Barrett which has now set up this tie.
Aberdeen entered the competition in the fourth round where they defeated League 2 Clyde 2-0 at New Douglas Park through a first half goal from Miovski after Clyde had hit the post and a second half goal from Devlin.
