Bonnyrigg Rose enter the 2022/23 Scottish Cup as they take on old foes Sauchie Juniors at Beechwood Park on Saturday.

The Reds currently sit 7th in the 16-team East of Scotland Premier Division, but have scored the second most goals in the league - behind only leaders Linlithgow Rose.

However, there are only four teams in the division that have conceded more goals than Fraser Duncan’s side.

The Clackmannanshire outfit pulled off one of the shocks of the first round, coming out on top in a tough trip to Gala Fairydean Rovers as they breezed to a 4-1 victory over the Lowland League side.

It’s not the only time Sauchie have punched above their weight this season, also dispatching on Tier Five team Cumbernauld Colts on penalties in the South Challenge Cup.

Saturday’s fixture will mark the first time the sides have met since Rose’s promotion winning season of 2018/19, where the visitors were victorious in a 5-1 rout at Beechwood. There were 5 different scorers on target too, as Keiran McGachie, Dean Hoskins, Lee Currie, Dean Brett and Louis Swanson found the net.

It was in this round, in the same county, where Rose’s Scottish Cup journey ended last year. cinch League One side Alloa Athletic proved too strong on the day for Robbie Horn’s side despite an outstanding travelling support, running out 5-0 winners to progress to the next round.

Sauchie Juniors will be running a cash only operation across their turnstiles, kiosks and bars.

The clubhouse bar will be open to both sets of supporters before the game, as well as a beer only bottle bar.

The hosts recommended supporters arrive early as they expect a sizeable crowd, although a second turnstile will be open.

Kick-off is 3pm at Beechwood Park on Saturday. Tickets are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions.

Supporters of both clubs are welcome to spectate from ‘The Stand’ for just £1, however there are only 100 seats available on a first come first serve basis.

‘Mon the Rose!
