It’s a trip to Galabank to take on Annan Athletic for the Rosey Posey in our penultimate cinch League Two fixture of the season.
Robbie Horn’s men head into the huge clash in great form – with only the recently crowned league champions Stirling Albion besting Rose’s points total from the last six games.
A massive three points were earned by the team last weekend by narrowly beating Forfar Athletic at Station Park. Keiran McGachie was felled by Marc McCallum in the penalty area, giving Neil Martyniuk the opportunity to slam the ball home from twelve yards in the first half.
The hosts struggled to get into the game whatsoever but when a late onslaught came, the Rose backline was ready for it. Despite the absence of our cool-as-you-like centre-half Alan Horne and combative playmaker Lee Currie, a strong defensive showing got the boys over the line.
Paddy Martin, helped by the brave efforts of those ahead of him in defence, kept his 6th clean sheet since joining in January – which also pushed Rose ahead of Forfar to become the team with the 2nd-most clean sheets in the division this season, with 11 in total.
Just behind Rose in the aforementioned form guide is Annan Athletic, who also have a strong record against the Boomtown outfit so far this season.
A 2-0 Rose win in October was followed up by a 4-0 trouncing at Galabank and 2-1 NDP besting from The Galabankies, with Annan frontman Tommy Goss grabbing a brace in each of the defeats.
Goss’ 22 league goals this campaign makes him the cinch League Two top goalscorer; while his forward line compatriot Chris Johnston sits second in the league-wide assist rankings, with 15 to his name.
Peter Murphy’s men are also the best-disciplined team in the league, with the least fouls conceded, least yellow cards collected and joint-least red cards picked up, so we can expect a fairly clean affair for the most part on Saturday afternoon.
This weekend’s clash is a big one for both sides as they seek survival and push play-offs, respectively, so we hope to see our fantastic support once more at Galabank to push the lads on for the full 90 once more.
Kick-off is 3pm at Galabank this Saturday. Tickets are £14 for adults and £10 for concessions, with U12 with an adult gaining free entry. You can pay at the gate or purchase your ticket(s) via Fanbase here. Rose fans should purchase tickets in Zone 4, Zone 5 or Main Stand.
‘Mon the Rose!
