Thoughts from the manager on the past seven days.

A massive three points for us yesterday against a much improved Tayport side who made us sweat a bit towards the end but as Dave said earlier in the week at this stage the only thing that matters is getting the 3 points.

With Adam suspended it created a space in the team for Chris Tobin who had a successful loan spell at Arniston recently. Tobes had looked sharp all week in training and offers great energy along with excellent football ability. I thought he along with the rest of the team were excellent in the first half in what was, in my opinion, our best 45 minutes for a wee while. We looked solid at the back, played at a high tempo, pressed really well from the middle to front and looked full of energy. In all honesty we should have been out of sight in the first half but for some good goal keeping and missed chances.

I thought the first goal we got a bit lucky with what looked like a foul before Archie finished well. The second came from some good build up play and an excellent finish from big Kieran. The big man has dipped a bit in form recently but still is a handful for any defence and you sometimes forget he is still pretty young. He has been outstanding this season for us and I hope yesterday will give him that boost again to kick on and play a big part in the remainder of the season.

We started the second half like we finished the first and missed a number of chances to extend our lead with again Gavin Sorley in the Tayport goals making a couple of great stops. To their credit Tayport grew into the game and started to pose more questions and Michael had to make a great stop himself. I still felt comfortable until we made a mistake at the back and Tayports best player Tulleth finished well. At that point everyone connected with Bonnyrigg started to get edgy and we found ourselves holding on a bit for the last 5 minutes with Al Horne having to make a great clearance late on with his head.

It was a game that missed chances could have cost us but as I said three points was all that mattered especially with Kelty dropping points. There is still a long way to go and as I keep saying there will be a few twists and turns still to come and Bo'ness, Linlithgow and Kelty will all feel that they are still well in with a chance looking at the games everyone has left. There is a tough round of fixtures for the top four teams this week and we face a difficult game away at Sauchie who I was impressed with early on in the season. I would think the game might come to soon for Moyesey, wee Scottie might have chance of being fit and Adam will serve his final game of his ban.

I have to mention the fantastic night had by all at the celebratory dinner for the 50th anniversary of winning the Scottish Cup last night. There was a great turn out by supporters, players past and present along with invited guests from other clubs and it was great to chat too familiar and new faces. Good food, great service from the bar staff, excellent speakers in Peter Martin and George McNeil while it was also great to learn more about the history of the club.

One thing that struck me last night was the superb backing that the coaching staff and players are getting at the moment from the supporters and also the committee. So many people coming up shaking our hands and saying how well we are doing and wishing us luck for the rest of the season it is greatly appreciated by myself, coaching staff and players. I was quite taken aback when towards the end of night there was a rendition of the "Rosey Posey"song which made the hairs on the back of the neck stand up as you got the real feeling of support for the club. I'm sure the players that were there last night felt it too and that will be getting fed back to the players that couldn't attend. I hope we can reward your support by having a successful season and we will be giving everything we've got between now and the end of the season.

All the best!
