New Dundas Park is much smaller today than was when originally purchased by the Trustees of Bonnyrigg Rose Ath.F.C. from Sir Hendry Dundas and his mother Dame Jean Hood or Dundas for £500 on the 10th June1953.
The Trustees or Club officials who negotiated the purchase were John Allan President, Daniel Thomson Vice-President, William Scotland Secretary, and William Forsyth Treasurer.
The original purchase document ensures that the ground will only be managed by the elected Club Officials who are the designated Trustees of the football club.
The original purchase extended from the current back gardens of the Waverley Terrace houses to the boundery wall of the current Bonnyrigg Rose Social Club [the land and car park for this venture was sold by the Trustees of the football club to the social club fof £100 on 20th August 1971] Two other sales were made from the original purchase by the Trustees, namely to Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Town Council in March 1954 of 2.96 acres that we now recognise as the Dundas Park development.
The last recorded sale by Trustees is in 1991 to Developers Hopetoun Developerments who were building The Auld Orchard houses and needed extra ground to have adeqate vehicle access for the development. This sale netted the Trustees £10.000 for the football club. New Dundas Park has had its share of triumphs and tears none greater than last September (09) when the old pavilion was burned down by fire raisers, an era diappeared in a few hours , however plans are afoot to rebuild a replacement and begin a new chapter in the New Dundas Park story.
